On Wednesday September 11, 2002, the Carver Fire Department responded with
two Engine companies and a Rescue to a motor vehicle accident with
entrapment.
When Carver Firefighters arrived on scene they found a pickup
truck and a large utility truck involved in the accident. The driver in the
pickup truck was trapped.
Firefighters from station one and two quickly
moved to stabilize the vehicle with cribbing. To perform a rapid
extrication Carver firefighters used two sets of Jaws of Life power units to
free the trapped victim. Firefighters used one set of spreaders to remove
the door while other firefighters used cutters to cut the A, B, and C posts
so they could remove the roof.
It took Carver firefighters about fifteen minutes to free the victim.
Carver EMTs and Jordan Hospital Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital.
