The Salem Township Fire Co. and East Berwick Hose Co. were dispatched at 430 for a reported fully involved structure fire.
Upon arrival, Engine 169 positioned itself on the B side of the structure and proceeded to deploy a 2.5" to knock down a bulk of the fire on the B side to protect two exposures. Salem Chief 1 assumed command called for multiple tankers and an extra engine to fill them and directed all operations for a defensive attack.
The first alarm consisted of an engine and tanker from Salem Twp, an engine from East Berwick, and a BLS and air unit out of Berwick Fire Department. A second alarm was struck at 440 calling for another engine from Berwick Fire Dept. and tankers from Summerhill, Orangeville, Huntington, and Mifflin.
Engine 168 arrived on-scene shortly thereafter and deployed a 2.5" line on the C side of the structure.
Once a constant water supply was established, Engine 168 put a deluge gun into operation for a short amount of time to knock down the remaining fire.
A state fire marshal was called to investigate the fire due to the fact there was no one living in the structure and no power to the structure. All units cleared and were called back in service at 1100. The structure was an old wood plank house used primarily for storage, and was not insured by the owners.
