Firefighters, Morehead Fire/Rescue

The Morehead Fire/Rescue Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 0830 hrs on October 3rd.

Arriving on scene, Asst. Chief John Northcutt, and first due Engine Company 7 reported the structure fully involved.

As they sized up the fire scene, they quickly determined the structure was unsafe for an interior attack due to a partial roof, exterior wall, and floor collapse on the B-C side of the structure.

They pulled off an 1 3/4" and 2" attach line to help contain the fire on the A-B side.

Morehead Fire/Rescue Chief Dale Adkins assumed command and called for an additional Engine Company, Air and LIght Unit, and Tanker support.

Due to it's rural location, Morehead Tanker 2, and mutual aid Tankers from Farmers Fire Department and Rt. 377 Fire Department assisted in water shuttles.

Initially Morehead Tanker 2 set up it's dump tank and additional Tankers assisted in filling the dump tank due to the 20 min. e.t.a. to the nearest water supply.

Engine Company 8 arrived on scene with additional personnel to assist with extingushing the fire and protecting exposures.

Engine Company 8 pulled a 2" attack line and assisted in the inevitable battle.

Mutual aid Tankers from Farmers Fire Department and Rt. 377 Fire Department took turns allowing Engine Company 8 to nurse from their water supply.

The structure was a new construction home only a few years old. Probable cause leads to overloaded electrical circuits. The structure and it's contents were completely destroyed.
