Firefighters Fight Vacant House, Brush Fire in Glendale, MD

Story/Photos by BRENDAN L. MALONE

On October 27, 2002 at approximately 1630 hours units from Prince George's County, MD Fire Stations 18, 28, 48, and 35 were dispatched for a brush fire.

The wooded area of the brush was adjacent to a railroad track and very dusty and polluted.

The abandonded house quickly caught on from the shifting fire. Arriving units found the structured ully involved.

The chief officer on the scene decided that only exterior work was needed. Crews put the bulk of the fire out with one line in less than twenty minutes.

Firefighters from West Lanham VFD and Glenn Dale VFD are shown here in action.
