A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a condominium building in Cherry Hill NJ
Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2.
First due companies were informed on "numerous
calls" by Camden County Fire Radio, and Engine 1362 reported a column from
over one-half mile away, and the first in officer reported a three-story
building with an end-of-the-row unit heavily involved.
The fire quickly
spread into the loft area and communicated over several other units.
A
stiff wind hampered efforts to stop the fire, despite roof operations and
other companies going inside to open up ceilings.
The fire was under control in about one hour. No injuries to civilians or
firefighters.
Eight units were seriously damaged and three others had smoke damage.
The cause is under investigation by Cherry Hill and Camden County Fire
Marshals.
A fire in a nearby building in the complex in January killed one woman and
was attributed to unattended candles burning.
