The Chateauguay (Quebec Canada) Fire Department respond to a fire in a garage during the night of February 13 to 14.
It was around 0255 when a 9-1-1 call came from a motorist to report smoke showing from the roof of a body work and paint garage.
First arriving unit found a 100` x 150` long one story building with light smoke coming from the roof.
As soon as firefighters opened the roof they were confronted with heavy fire in the cockloft area, a second alarm was then transmited.
The fire reached four alarm's and mutual aid from St-Constant, Mercier, Kanawake and Ste-Chaterine were called to the scene due to the building's configuration and it's numerous renovations.
Firefighters encountered three diffirent types of roofs, one on top of another.
While battling the fire, firefighters had to evacuate as two large pieces of the roof collapsed into the garage, fortunatly no firefighters who where working inside where injured.
The fire was under control around 0600 the morning of February 14.
At the height of the fire, 3 ladders, 3 engines and 2 rescues where working on scene with 40 firefighters.
Numerous handlines where used. Dammage to the building is estimated to be around $500,000
