Volunteer firefighters in the Town of Hamburg got an early morning wake-up call with the report of a residential house fire.
Flames were reported shooting from the two-story home around 05:00 AM on Thursday, February 21, 2002.
Upon arrival at the 5099 Orchard Avenue address, firefighters found the house completely engulfed in flames.
Lake Shore Fire Chief Paul Ehret ordered an exterior blitz-attack which quickly darkened down the blaze.
Interior crews then completed the extinguishment and mop-up.
Coincidentally, renovations on the home had just been completed from a previous fire last year.
Although the home had been reoccupied since the previous fire, no one was home at the time of this blaze.
Firefighters from Big Tree, Lake View, Scranton, and Woodlawn Fire Companies responded to the fire in a mutual-aid capacity.
Town of Hamburg fire investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
