VA Bravest Battle House Fire

Photos by Bill Taylor
Story by Perry Weller

The Staunton Fire Department's B-Shift was dispatched at 13:23 hours for a structure fire at 110 Thompson Street. Mutliple calls reporting flames showing.

E-1 arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and fire showing from side 1 of a 2 story residence.

E-1 deployed two (2) 1 3/4" handlines to the structure. A quick knock down was made and the hoselines were advanced into the structure to check for extension.

An additional 2 1/2" hoseline was pulled as a back-up line.

The fire was contained to the front portion of the structure.

The following units responded; E-1, E-3, Truck 106 from the Augusta County FD, and E-145 from the Swoope Vol. FD.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
