VA Firefighters Battle House Fire

Photos/Story By Chris Born

The Virginia Beach Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 5826 Burton Station Road at approximately 1115 hours on 4/1/02.

Initial comments indicated that the stove was on fire, and that the occupants were vacating the structure.

A passerby noticed fire breaking through the roof, and updated the dispatcher.

The electrical service to the house also came down at this time and was initially burning.

Upon arrival, E2 stretched two 1-3/4" handlines and proceeded with fire attack.

At this point there was heavy fire in the rear of the house and in the attic.

Responding units were E2, E9, E4, E1, L9, B2, B3, B9, HM1, 220 (ambulance), and EMS5.
