Memphis Bravest Make Below Ground Rescue

About 1330 hrs on Monday May 20, 2002 Memphis Fire Dept (TN) received a call of a man missing below ground in the cities drainage system on the corner of Poplar at Lauderdale in downtown Memphis.

Engines 1,13, Truck Co 2, Rescue 2, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Battalion 5, and 2 EMS units were dispatched. Companies reported on the scene and found a man had been missing for over 1 hour below ground.

Memphis FD SORT teams worked quickly, recovered the man and lifted him to safety. The rescue was completed in about 30 to 45 mins. The man received no injuries and resumed back to a normals day work after the incident.
