On March 20, 2002, The City of Manistee Fire Department (IAFF Local 645) fought a major fire in a century old structure.
The structure was located at the corner of Fourteenth and Main Streets.
The structure was being used as a two family dwelling.
Two occupants were in the second floor apartment when construction workers across the street noticed the fire.
One of the workers evacuated the male resident and his one year old daughter.
The structure was an old neighborhood grocery store at one time.
