At 1118 hours on April 7th 2002, the Hanover Fire Department began receiving calls for a reported structure fire on Oakland Avenue.
First arriving apparatus found heavy fire involving 4 small structures including a one story barn that was used as a marine engine repair shop, a wood shop, a chicken coop and a shed.
The fire had also spread to the adjoining woods and was burning about a quarter of an acre.
The fire began when the property owner left a permit fire unattended and it spread to the nearby structures.
Rescue 1, Ambulance 1, Ladder 1 and Engines 2,4 & 5 responded to the working fire that took about 20 minutes to bring under control.
