West Hancock Fire & Rescue Along with Bayside Fire Dept Were dispatched to a firey crash on Old Hwy 90 off of Hwy 607 about 8 miles From the Louisiana State line.
First units on scene found 1 car (Dodge Neon) Fully involved fire with major damage to the front end due to impact with 1 person trapped. The second vehicle (Dodge Caravan) was off the road with heavy damage to the right front . Both the driver and passenger were pinned. Driver's from both vehicles survived the accident while the one victim (passenger) in the van was dead on arrival (DOA) As well as 2 passenegers ikn the Neon one ejected and one was traped & burned.
Due to the lack of Heavy Rescue equipment,West Hancock Fire Rescue (WHFR) requested mutual aid from St.Tammany Fire District #1. Also assiting on the scene was Clermont Harbor Fire Dept,American Medical Response (AMR), Mississippi Highway Partrol (MHP), and Hancock County Sherriffs Office.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
