Firefighters from several towns battled a fully involved 2.5 story wood frame structure fire just before 2am on May 26th, 2002 at 141 Rt. 46.

A Netcong Police officer rescued 2 occupants of the structure just before it became fully involved.

The 2 occupants received minor smoke inhalation. 1 was transported by the Stanhope-Netcong First Aid squad to a local hospital.

Firefighters from Netcong Fire Companies 1 and 2 were assisted by Roxbury Fire Department Co #1’s Aerial Ladder, Stanhope, Byram and Budd Lake Fire Departments FAST team also assisted.

Roxbury Co #2 First Aid and Budd Lake First Aid Squad also responded to provide for standby and Firefighter Rehab.

The 2.5 story wood frame was a total loss. An investigation is in progress with no determination made of the cause.
