On June 11, 2002 about 11 am Firefighters from Brighton, West Brighton, and Henrietta responded for a report of a tractor trailer over turned with a person trapped on Rt. 390 at Rt. 590.
Due to the many different locations that were originally given, the three fire departments were dispatched to check their respective districts.
First units reported the accident to be in the Brighton Fire District with a tractor trailer over turned and the driver severely trapped.
Command reported the need for "all hands" at the scene.
Command requested the Kodak Fire Department to respond for the use of its low pressure/high lift air bags.
A large tow truck was also special called to assist.
Firefighters from Henrietta worked on the passenger side, while the Kodak Firefighters worked on the drivers side.
During the extrication, the patient was alert with only minor injuries.
A trauma team was requested from Strong Memorial Hospital to assist the paramedics at the scene.
After 94 minutes the driver was extricated.
Remarketably, he crawled out under his own power and was taken to the hospital with only minor injures.
Firefighters from Brighton, West Brighton, Henrietta and Kodak responded along with Brighton Ambulance.
