PhotoStory
Indianapolis Bravest, Age 4, 'Rescues' Brother, 5 Months

Story & Photos by
MICHELLE LITTLE
Proud Mom, Wife of Firefighter

The photo is of my oldest son Brian, age 4, attempting his first rescue with his newborn brother Dylan, 5 months.

Brian is the son of Indianapolis Fire Fighter Kelly Little. (Even though he is wearing a Peoria Fire Dept helmet which was given to his dad from a friend on that department.)

Since Brian was old enough to understand daddy is a firefighter he has taken on the same role.

He loves to suit up in his fire gear and spend hours aiding accident victims or extinguishing large fires. Our water bill has reflected just how big some of these fires have been. It is just not the same if you can't use the hose.

He will use his other brother, Griffin as his backstepper to help him pull hose.

He can't grow up fast enough to become a real fire fighter.

He even goes as far as having daddy put the ladder up so he can climb it too.

He tends to want to be on the ladder truck which is a little disappointing to his father who is loyal only to the engine. We will have to see how that one works out.

I spend countless hours photographing my children and when this shot was developed there was real emotion behind it.

I thought it would be nice to share.
