PA Bravest Battle Apartment Fire

On Sunday morning, May 26th at 0655 hrs. the Franklin County 911 Center began to recieve calls about an apartment building fire located at 105 E. Baltimore St. in Greencastle,Pa. At 0658 hrs. box 3-04 Task Force 3 was dispatched sending Rescue Hose Co. 3 first due, Engine 8-1 from Marion, Engine 2-2 from Waynesboro, Truck 17 from New Franklin, Engine-Tanker 9 from Mervercburg and Co. 3 EMS.

Lt. 3-A arrived on the scene at 0701 hrs. and confirmed a working fire. Engine 3-2 arrived a minute later to find a 3 story apartment building with heavy fire from the 2nd floor nad part of the 3rd floor. All occupants were reported evacuated. At 0704 hrs. special response was dispatched sending Squad 41 from Franklin Fire Co. in Chambersburg and Washington County Engine 131 from Maugensville , MD. Supply lines were laid from various hydrants.

The building was located on the main street through town and traffic had to be detoured several blocks. Rehab was set up by Rescue Hose EMS units 3-7 and 3-9. One resident of the building was treated on the scene for a minor burn and one firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor burns to his shoulders and back. The building had 3 rental uints.

It is unknown the how many people were dispalced by the fire. The Red Cross was on the scene to assisstance with placement. The cause of the fire and an estimate of damage is unknown. The PA. State Police Fire Marshall was called in to investigate.Transfers to Co. were Amb. 2-9 from Waynesboro,

Engine 5-2 from Mont Alto and Washington County Engine 272 from Long Meadow, MD. Units were on the scene until 1041 hrs.
