Maryland Firefighters Battle House Blaze

Story and Photos by
RANDALL L. SHANK

A pre-dawn blaze in a Frederick, Maryland single-family home caused extensive damage to the structure.

Firefighters from Independent (Co.1), Junior (#2), United (#3 & #31), Citizens (#4), Fort Detrick (#50), and an EMS unit from Braddock Heights (A129) were dispatched at 3:09 am. to the Cloverhill I subdivision just outside of Frederick City for a house fire.

Independent Hose Co. duty officer Scott Morgan arrived within minutes reporting fire showing.

Fire was extending from the basement bedroom up the exterior siding and into the attic.

Fourteen suppression units took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office.

No injuries were reported.
