Texas Firefighters Knock Down Flames, Spare Home

Story and Photos by
JARED JUDD

On Friday, May 10th at 2:24 p.m., Gun Barrel City Firefighters responded to a house fire.

A resident left an unattended pile of burning rubbish near the base of his trailer home. Before long the fire had vented under the house.

As smoke started to billow from beneath, neighbors called 911.

Within minutes Gun Barrel City Firefighters responded with two pumpers and a tanker.

After knocking down flames escaping from the underpinning of the house, firefighters gained entry and attacked fire which had worked its way through the floor.

The fire was soon extinguished but the house was ruined due to smoke and water damage.

The occupants (rent house) where not there at the time, saying that the rubbish pile was only smoldering when they left.

No one one was harmed or injured, including pets. The house was salvagable, but with much smoke and water damage.
