Interstate 95 was closed for around five hours Thursday morning just north of Baltimore by an accident with a fire involving two tractor-trailers and a smaller truck.
The Baltimore County Fire Department said four people were injured and were taken to hospitals with what are described as non-life threatening injuries. The injured include the drivers of both tractor-trailers and two occupants of the truck.
State police say the crash started when the moving truck tried to pull off the shoulder into the right lane.
Witnesses say the truck didn't have its lights on when it pulled off the shoulder shortly after 4 a.m. It was rammed from behind by a tractor-trailer loaded with food products.
The tractor-trailer was then forced into another tractor-trailer loaded with garbage. Both struck the center median and burst into flames. The drivers were able to escape.
