Middletown Township Barn Fire Keep PA Bravest Busy

Story/Photos by GREEN RIDGE FIRE COMPANY

August 16th - Area Firefighter's battle a early morning barn fire in the 100 block of W Knowlton Rd in Middletown Twp. The Box alarm assignment was dispatched at 1:13 am.

While units were responding Fire Communications notified them that Police were on location with heavy smoke showing from an octagon barn. Telesquirt 50 (Middletown) arrived on the scene confirming PD report and placed a 2 1/2" line in service to the basement. Truck 63 arrived second on the scene and immediately laddered the building and started ventilation.

Middletown Command quickly called for a second alarm and an additional alarm that pulled Tankers from the 11th District and as far away as Chester County.

Due to heavy fire conditions and a water supply problem, all apparatus was repositioned and all operations were switched to a defensive attack. Units operating on the scene were under the command of Middletown's Asst. Chief B. Tull. Throughout the day, numerous county companies were dispatched for manpower.
