Howard County, MD Firefighter Fight 2 Alarm Blaze

Story/Photos by PETE HAMMOND

Firefighters we alerted to a 2 alarm fire at 9275 Baltimore National Pike "Subway" at 9:45am. Training 30, Capt. Butt were first on the scene requested "strike out the box" for heavy smoke showing from the Subway roof.

Capt. Butt also reported that himself and Training 30 were in the process of rescueing people from the second floor. The two training officers had the second floor clear as equipment arrive to the scene.

A task force was sounded and then a second alarm. Howard Co. firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. Extensive overhaul operations were implemented.

There were no reports at this time of any injuries. The two Howard Co. Dept. of Fire and Rescue training officers deserve credit for quickly rescueing people from the the building, preventing injuries or worse to civilians in the structure.
