Laurel Springs, New Jersey Firefighters Knock Down House Fire

Story/Photos by JASON HOUCK

This house fire was reported around 2:30 AM on Wednesday August 14, 2002.

Initial reports were received for the possibility of occupants trapped inside, but first arriving units found that all occupants were accounted for.

On arrival units from Laurel Springs, Station 60, and Stratford, Station 641, found heavy fire to the rear of this three story brick dwelling.

Handlines were stretched to the rear to extinguish a large wooden deck that was involved as well a at least on automobile.

Other crews advanced lines to the interior and found heavy fire on the number one floor, and also heavy fire on the third floor.

Additional mutual companies were dispatched to the see to assist with the operations.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down in the first twenty minutes with crews performing overhaul for another forty minutes before the fire was placed under control.
