The Gavilan fire occurred Feb 10, 2002, in the community of Fallbrook, Ca (San Diego County). This fire was started by embers from an authorized controlled burn the day before. The fire destroyed 45 homes in the hilly brush terrain. 30 structure protection strike teams were called from San Diego County cities as well as CDF and Camp Pendleton (USMC) Federal Fire.
