Fire Station 3 proudly houses the two newest editions to the Department's fleet. Truck 403 is a 2001 Pierce 100' aerial. This replaces a 1987 Pierce Arrow which now serves as the Department's reserve aerial. Battalion 443 now runs a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban command unit with modifications by Fastlane, Inc. Located downstairs off the apparatus bay is the station's gym. This facility is available for use by on-duty or off-duty personnel. Included is a variety of strength and cardiovascular equipment. Shift personnel are allotted time each day to workout, which is strongly encouraged. Each of the three shifts has at least one peer fitness trainer, certified in accordance with the IAFF's wellness program. Fire Station 3 is staffed by a minimum of 9 firefighters which is supplemented by volunteer staffing when available. Units in this station respond to approximately 6,500 calls annually. The station was built in 1960 and an addition was made in 1996, expanding the building and adding two more floors. The fourth floor of the station houses the City of Fairfax Fire Headquarters.
