WASHINGTON (AP) -- A California company is recalling about 74,000 candle sets sold in Wal-Mart stores because dripping candle wax can ignite potpourri included with the set.
Endar Corp., of Temecula, Calif., and Wal-Mart, of Bentonville, Ark., have received no reports of fires or injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Monday.
The Ambria brand 9-Piece Harvest Centerpiece Collection candle set contains seven candles: three white pillars, two red apple shaped novelty candles, and two yellow leaf shaped novelty candles. The set also includes potpourri and a round 12-inch plate.
Wal-Mart stores nationwide sold these candles from Sept. 1 through Sept. 20 for about $10.
The government said consumers should stop using the candle sets and return them to any Wal-Mart store for a full refund. Consumers also can call Endar Corp. toll-free at 1-800-562-9974 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. PDT Monday through Friday.
