WASHINGTON (AP) -- An Illinois company is recalling about 20,000 fondue sets because a plastic ring with handles attached to the pot can crack during normal heating or cooling, posing burn and fire hazards.
Trudeau Corp., of Woodbridge, has received 30 reports of the plastic rings breaking, including one report of a consumer who was burned on the hand, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The recalled fondue sets, sold under the brand names ``Distinction by Trudeau'' and ``Trudeau Fondue Set,'' have blue or white metal pots with a black plastic ring attached to the upper rim. The pot sits on a black stand that houses the burner.
Stores including Target sold the fondue sets from October 2001 through January 2002 for between $20 and $40.
The government said consumers should stop using the fondue sets and contact Trudeau toll-free at 1-800-465-8909 to receive a replacement fondue pot.
