Firefighter/Paramedic - Village of Palatine, Illinois

Applicant must meet the following requirements:

• AGE: At least 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age as of February 26, 2010. Age limitations do not apply if previously employed as a firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality.
• EDUCATION: Evidence of satisfactory completion of not less than 60 semester hours at a college or university accredited by the State in which it is located, or; evidence of the applicant's training or experience equivalent to such college or university credit, or; a combination thereof, acceptable to the Fire and Police Commission. Current EMT-B license is a prerequisite to applying, and must also be current at time of hire.
• EXCELLENT HEALTH: Applicant will be required to pass a medical physical and physical ability test to determine fitness for work at the time a job offer is extended.

Applications may be obtained at the Colfax Street Fire Station, 39 East Colfax, Palatine, Illinois 60067, starting at 8:30 A.M. on Monday, January 18, 2010; or online at www.palatine.il.us. Deadline for filing applications is 4:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010. A 1.5 mile run and written examination will be conducted by the Fire and Police Commission on Saturday, June 7, 2008 for eligible applicants. The test location and schedule will be available when the application is picked up.
