The Fire Department of the City of Portland has integrated the delivery of fire suppression and Emergency Medical services and expects successful applications to perform both functions. Requirements: Applicants must be State of Maine licensed or have the ability to be State of Maine licensed as an EMT-B at the time of interview. Intermediate or Paramedic licensure is desirable. Candidates with State FF I and II certification are desired. EMT-B’s will be required to obtain certification as an EMT-I. Candidates with three years of full-time experience with another career fire department or career ALS provider will be considered a lateral transfer and will enter the pay scale at step 3. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of post high school employment or three years of post high school education at a college or university or any equivalent combination of post high school education and work experience totaling three years. Applicants will be required to pass a written exam, background check, IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), and a medical exam. Starting salary: $623.03/wk with additional pay for EMT-I or EMT-P certification plus excellent fringe benefits. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, copy of their high school diploma or equivalency, copy of a driver’s license, and a copy of their EMT license. Deadline is Friday, November 16, 2012.
