Located in the East Bay area of Northern California, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) serves the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, the Town of Danville, Diablo, the City of San Ramon, along with select unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County. Covering 155 square miles, the District protects a population of 179,500 and responded to 7,949 calls for service in FY2011-12. The Department achieved International Accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) in August of 2010.

The ideal candidate will be an inclusive and resilient leader with a proven history of proactively taking on complex issues and challenges. He/she will be a superior communicator who values maintaining a visible presence in the community as well as in the Department. In addition to being well-versed in operations, this inspiring professional will exhibit in-depth administrative knowledge and impressive financial acumen. A history of embracing contemporary technological tools will also be expected. Five years of increasingly responsible management-level experience in a comparable agency and a Bachelor’s degree are required.
