The City of Sheboygan is seeking applicants for the position of Fire Chief, effective January 1, 2014. Responsibilities include the management of an $8 million budget and the operation of the Department which includes 72 sworn officers and 2 civilians. The Fire Chief is responsible for the coordination of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services as well as non-emergency services. The Fire Chief acts as the City of Sheboygan Emergency Management Director. Duties also include planning, organizing and personnel management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership, executive skills and high moral character. At time of application a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public or Business Administration, or related field is required. A Master’s degree in Public Administration or a related field is preferred. Preferred experience equivalent to a minimum of 15 years of firefighting/emergency medical service including at least five years of which has been served at supervisory/management level.
