Executive Director

Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service (SMCAS) is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. This is a 40+ hour per week salaried position with negotiable pay (based on experience) and a benefits package. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the management and operation of the community ambulance authority. As a community ambulance service, the Executive Director is required to make periodic reports to the governing bodies of the municipalities served. The Executive Director is expected to remain current on the issues and trends in health care in general, emergency medicine in particular, and to keep the Board and staff abreast of those issues and to position the authority accordingly. 

Qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business, or related field, or equivalence of college credits with willingness to obtain or complete Bachelor's Degree within time frame agreed upon by SMCAS Board of Trustees. 3 years experience in Emergency Medical Services Management or Health Care Services Management. Experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and basic bookkeeping. Experience with computers including Windows application. Excellent personal communication skills. State of Michigan licensed Paramedic or experience in emergency medicine with a willingness to obtain Paramedic license within time frame agreed upon by SMCAS Board of Trustees. Certified in CPR, ACLS, PALS and possess trauma card (PHTLS, ITLS or equivalent or obtain within six months of hire). NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800 certified at time of hire and obtain NIMS 300 & 400 within six months of hire, if not already certified. Ability to lift, carry, move and utilize heavy medical equipment patients who are sick or injured and utilize heavy medical equipment.
