    PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A Pine Bluff fire lieutenant died Saturday, May 22, from injuries he suffered in January when a wall and steel girder collapsed on him during a commercial building fire. Lt. David Curlin was critically injured during the fire on January 3, 2010, according to todaysthv.com, a local television station broadcast from Little Rock, Ark. According to the television station, Curlin died at Baptist Medical Center Saturday afternoon.

  • Fire Damages Ark. Family Business

    FORT SMITH, Ark. --  An evening fire at the Middleton Carpet Connection and Cleaning Company heavily damaged the building and its contents. A passerby spotted smoke coming from the building around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, fire officials said an overloaded extension cord likely started the fire. The Fort Smith business has been open for nearly 40 years. For the last 10 years, the company has been located on the corner of Towson Avenue and South B Street.

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --  Fayetteville fire officials were still investigating the cause of a fire Tuesday night at a motor company. At 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, fire crews were called to the Osburn Motor Company on Martin Luther King Boulevard Fire officials said the blaze did about $450,000 in damage. They said the fire was difficult to battle because cars, tires, oil and gasoline fueled the flames.

    BELLA VISTA, Ark. -- Five people -- including three children under the age of 11 -- died in an early-morning fire in Bella Vista. The victims have been identified as Angie Reed, 29, Jade Schieffer, 11, Mica Schieffer, 9, Kyra Schieffer, 4. The fifth victim, a 42-year-old adult male, had not been identified by Thursday evening. About 4 a.m., firefighters responded to a house on Powick Lane, where they found a house engulfed in flames.

  • Arkansas FF Dies at Fire Scene

    A firefighter in Arkansas died Tuesday afternoon after collapsing at a fire scene. Henry Sandy, 52, was a member of Northside Vol. Fire Dept near Batesville.Northside Volunteer Fire Chief Karol Fleetwood said firefighters called for emergency medical personnel, who worked on Sandy and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to KAIT. Sandy had been with the department for about 10 years.
