40th Anniversary: Featuring Legendary Contributors Through the Years — Alan Brunacini

July 1, 2016
As part of our ongoing celebration of Firehouse Magazine’s 40th anniversary, we share with you examples of Firehouse’s connection to some of the most influential fire service names. This month we spotlight Alan Brunacini.

Chief Alan Brunanci (“Bruno”) is likely one of the most recognizable and accomplished fire chiefs in the American fire service. A distinguished, yet humble leader, Chief Brunacini rose though the ranks of the Phoenix Fire Department, serving in every rank before becoming fire chief in 1978. In addition to his duties as fire chief, he helped shape the fire service by serving as the chairman of two of the most monumental NFPA standards of modern times—NFPA 1500 and 1710. Chief Brunacini has been a contributor to Firehouse for more than 30 years, sharing his insight and wisdom about fire command, customer service and leadership, while at the same time presenting thought-provoking conversations in his lectures at Firehouse Expo and Firehouse World. In 2015, Chief Brunacini was one of four members in the inaugural class inducted into the Firehouse Hall of Fame.
