Nate Tuck, 39, Firefighter
Nate Tuck was with the Keokuk Fire Department for nearly five years. He leaves behind
a wife and two children.
He was actively involved in athletics, coaching the local high school's baseball team
and also assisting with the middle school's football and basketball teams.
``Coach Tuck was one of those coaches who was in the shadows. He never took credit for wins, but he was always the first one to congratulate me and the players after a game,'' said seventh-grader Zach Gatton. ``He taught us a lot of things without screaming. Coach Tuck was somebody who made us want to try hard.''
Tuck's funeral will be at noon Monday at the First Baptist Church in Keokuk.

Jason Bitting was a six-year-veteran of the Keokuk Fire Department who leaves
behind a wife and three children.
Dawn Marlin, whose husband, Jeff, also is a Keokuk firefighter, said Bitting was ``a kid at heart.''
``He'd call up our son, Justin, who's 19, and want to come over to play guitar with him,'' she said. ``Everybody liked him. He'd do anything for anybody.''
Services for Bitting will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk,
