TREVORTON -- The investigation into the cause of Thursday’s fatal fire in Trevorton is pending testing of at least one item found at the scene and interviews, a police investigator said.

State police fire marshal Leon Brown said Monday that an item from the fire scene would be sent out for testing and more interviews were planned as part of the inquiry into last week’s fire that claimed the life of volunteer firefighter Timothy "Timmy" DiOrio.
"We’re in a holding pattern right now," Brown said.
Results could be available later this week or early next week, Brown said.
Otherwise, there was little new information about the cause or origin of the deadly blaze that killed the 36-year-old DiOrio of 1111 W. Arch St., Coal Township.
DiOrio was among several firefighters from Maine Fire Company in Coal Township who responded to the late-night blaze at 923 W. Shamokin St. home Thursday.
He became trapped when a back porch gave way and was killed when the building collapsed on him soon after.
A six-year veteran of the state police based in Selinsgrove, DiOrio was the fourth volunteer firefighter to die in the line of duty in Pennsylvania this year.
Ed Reed, Trevorton Fire Department’s assistant chief, said DiOrio’s colleagues have set up a memorial for him at the fire scene.
"They put up a black banner and a lot of guys have brought flowers," Reed said.
Memorial Services
Funeral services for DiOrio will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Shamokin Area High School auditorium with the Rev. Bob Commerford, pastor of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, presiding.
