NY Firefighter Dies after Medical Emergency Last Month

Burdett firefighter Dale Jaynes, who was also deputy fire coordinator for Schuyler County, died Tuesday following a medical incident he suffered while responding to a fire Sept. 16.

A firefighter in western New York died after suffering a medical emergency while out on a call last month.

The Burdett Volunteer Fire Department announced the passing of firefighter Dale Jaynes in an online post late Tuesday. Janyes had suffered a medical emergency while responding to a fire Sept. 16, FireFighterCloseCalls.com reports.

"They say a community/Is only as strong as the people in it/With Dale Jaynes/This community never quit," a friend of Jaynes' wrote in a poem that was posted online Wednesday.

Along with serving with the Burdett VFD, Jaynes was also the deputy fire coordinator for Schuyler County.
