Fire Destroys Landmark Inn
On Massachusetts Oceanfront
Marshfield, MA, March 17, 1998 A spectacular fire destroyed the landmark 122-year-old Fairview Inn. The fire spread throughout the three-story wooden landmark overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Apparently, this was one of the last of the old inns that
once lined the coast from Boston to Cape Cod. Firefighters from Marshfield were assisted by an engine and truck from Duxbury.
