On the Cover
In celebration of our special Millennium Issue, we asked Las Vegas firefighter and noted artist Allan Albaitis to develop a work of art for the cover depicting the fire/EMS/rescue service in the year 2025. As shown in "The Millennium Challenge," a fleet of rocket-powered fire engines respond to a fire in an orbiting space city. In the cosmos above, a trio of horses pulls a steamer from the beginning of the century as they look at the progress of America's Bravest. Truly out of this world!
Dedication
This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Assistant Chief Wayne Luecht, 48, of the Northbrook, IL, Fire Department; Captain Thomas Moore, 38, of the Manteca, CA, Fire Department; and Firefighter Paul McGrath, 50, of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, all of whom died in the line of duty, June 1999.
