On This Month's Cover:

Firefighters from Boston, MA, Engine 28 were on their way to stretch a hoseline into the top floor of a three-story apartment building when the fire flashed over, causing them to back down the portable ladder in a hurry. The suspicious two-alarm fire destroyed several apartments. The blaze occurred in the Jamaica Plain section of the city on May 18, 1996. Several firefighters received minor injuries.
