Chicago's Squad 5 operates at a 3-11 alarm fire on June 29, 2002. The fire ripped through the cockloft of a row of stores on the South Side. Twelve engines, eight trucks and numerous special units operated. The high heat and heavy fire took a toll on firefighters.
Dedication
This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Firefighter/Paramedic John Ginocchetti, 41, Firefighter/Paramedic Timothy J. Lynch, 28, of the Manlius, NY, Fire Department, who died in the line of duty, March 2002; and to Firefighter Recruit Andrew Waybright, 24, of the Frederick County, MD, Department of Fire/Rescue Services, who died in the line of duty, July 2002.
