On Dec. 17, 2002, Los Angeles Engine 27, dispatched to a transformer fire, found the fire had communicated to the second floor and attic of a two-story, 75-by-400-foot commercial building, the Hollywood Center Studios. The fire required the response of 120 firefighters from 25 companies. The incident was under the command of Assistant Chief Terry Manning. Damage was estimated at $2 million. Units were on the scene for 11 hours.

This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Assistant Chief Michael Peter Killian, 34, of the Windom Fire Company in Orchard Park, NY and to Firefighter Terry Wren Carroll, 51, of the Grove, NC, Fire & Rescue Inc., who died in the line of duty, January 2003.
