A firefighter operates a deck gun while a ladderpipe is positioned on portions of frame dwellings that have already collapsed. Two buildings with 18 apartments were destroyed and another four buildings were left uninhabitable, leaving 120 people homeless.
Firefighters from 20 departments assisted the Passaic, NJ, Fire Department in battling the general-alarm fire, which occurred on Feb. 1, 2000.
