Firefighters get off the roof via the aerial ladder of FDNY Ladder 56 at a two-alarm fire that started in a vacant dwelling and spread to two adjacent occupied dwellings. The early-morning fire in the Seventh Division of the Bronx occurred on Dec. 28, 2002. The patriotic colors represent the military service of America's Bravest who were called to war during the recent conflict in the Middle East.

Dedication

This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Firefighter Oscar Armstrong III, 25, of the Cincinnati Fire Department; Trainee Wayne K. Clark, 46, of the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department; Firefighter James Smith, 63, of the Troy, IN, Volunteer Fire Department; and Captain Tom Kistler, 53, of Polk County Fire District 1 in Independence, OR, all of whom died in the line of duty, March 2003.
