A 2,500-square-foot log cabin was well-involved when the Red White and Blue Fire Department arrived on Jan. 18, 2003. The fire occurred in the Blue River section of Breckenridge, CO. Firefighters were hampered by 36 inches of snow and high winds at an elevation of 10,500 feet above sea level. Firefighter Steve Kepple, who was using a chain saw to open the roof, descends a ladder as fire blows out of the basement window.
