Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Assistant Chief Bryan O'Malley gives orders to Lieutenant John Purcell as a fire consumes a condominium unit in North Hills, NY, on Feb. 17, 2002. Firefighters from four Manhasset-Lakeville companies, with units from the Roslyn Fire Companies, battled the fire that gutted that unit, damaged two adjacent units and melted siding on a nearby home.

This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Chief James Pelton, 58, of the Mason, MI, Fire Department; Firefighter Robert Hazlett, 52, of the Odell Rural Fire Protection District in Oregon; Firefighter/EMT Richard D. Shoaf Jr., 43, of the Swarthmore, PA, Fire & Protection Association; and Firefighter Stephen A. Pestrusik, 52, of the Lansdowne, MD, Volunteer Firemen's Association, all of whom died in the line of duty, August 2001.
