An early-morning fire destroyed five businesses and several apartments in Mount Jewett, PA. First-arriving units rescued a family of three via portable ladder. A master stream off a mutual aid pumper from the Kane Volunteer Fire Department operates as the fire spreads. A total of 23 departments from six counties responded to the fire, which caused an estimated $1 million in damage.

This month's Firehouse® is dedicated to Captain Michael Wayne Copeland, 50, of the City of Charlotte, NC, Fire Department, who died in the line of duty, January 2003; to Firefighter George A. Walker, 62, of the Clarksville, IN, Fire Department, Engineer Robert John Moseley, 52, of the Santa Barbara County, CA, Fire Department, and Trainee Wayne K. Clark, 46, the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, who died in the line of duty, February 2003; and to Firefighter Mike Stanley, 52, of the Salisbury, MO, Fire Department, who died in the line of duty, March 2003.
