Los Angeles firefighters ventilate the attic of a one-story, single-family dwelling near the intersection of 46th Street and Budlong Avenue in South Los Angeles. Upon arrival, fire and heavy smoke were showing from the rear of the structure. The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes. The occupants were left homeless. The fire occurred on July 1, 2006.

This month’s Firehouse® is dedicated to Firefighter Paul R. Brady, 42 of the Malverne, NY, Fire Department, who died in the line of duty, July 2006; and to Firefighter Richard Washington Jr., 49, of the Clark County, NV, Fire department; Engineer Arnie Wolff, 55 of the Green Bay, WI, Fire Department; and Firefighter Ollie Tate, 56, of the Thaxton, MS, Volunteer Fire Department, who died in the line of duty, August 2006.
