NEW CASTLE, Pa. --

A quick-thinking 15-year-old saved a woman from a burning New Castle home early Tuesday morning.

Justin Ritchie said his dog woke him up when he was barking and looked out the window.

"I looked up and whoosh! Fire came out," Ritchie said. "I saw her in the window. She was yelling, 'Help me!'"

Ritchie said he ran outside and grabbed a ladder that was near his home and put it up to the burning house. He told his neighbor, 74-year-old Charlene McMasters to climb down from the second floor.

"She fell about half way down but I still got her out," Ritchie said.

Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that McMasters broke her hip in the fall, but suffered no burns. Her family said they're thankful Ritchie was there to help.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
