Fire Hits San Diego Police Headquarters

SAN DIEGO -- Fire crews quickly knocked down a fire at the San Diego Police Department's headquarters on Sunday. The fire was reported just after 9 a.m. on the second floor of the building in the 1400 block of Broadway. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, people on the second floor of the building were evacuated. No injuries were reported. The fire was out by about 9:30 a.m., according to 10News' media partner The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Fire crews quickly knocked down a fire at the San Diego Police Department's headquarters on Sunday.

The fire was reported just after 9 a.m. on the second floor of the building in the 1400 block of Broadway.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, people on the second floor of the building were evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The fire was out by about 9:30 a.m., according to 10News' media partner The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The fire, which generated large amounts of smoke, was reportedly caused by the motor of a ventilation unit, according to a dispatcher with the SDFRD.

Damage was estimated at $2,000, according to the Union-Tribune.
